It’s All Heart From Here

This video shows the incredible relationship between Brock and his coach.

I first found this video several years back, before my own son Brock was born.

If you were with me then, you might remember me sharing it with you.

But now, at this point in my life, it has a whole new meaning.

Not only because I’m a father to Brock, who’s now 21 month’s old, but because my commitment to those I coach is SO much more than it was just a few short years ago.

These days, as a coach, I’m operating on an entirely different level.

This video illustrates the kind of coach I strive to be.

Dedicated to your success,
Kevin Thompson

    very inspiring

  2. One of my all-time favorite clips… everyone is capable of far more than they can see themselves. A great coach is one who finds a way to show each one how to find the breakthrough.

I absolutely loved this movie! For anyone who’s ever played sports (or anything else in life for that matter) just having that ONE person who not only won’t let you quit, but who is willing to get down in the trenches with you, is the world. The giant chasm between “I can’t do it” and “I can’t fail” can be bridged with just one. Thanks, Kevin, for actually caring about the people who you help.

    Dear Kevin,

I have never seen this video before. I am crying as I type this to tell you Thank You…for being you…for believing in us…for having the huge heart that you share…for seeing our bigger future when we could not.

I dont think you realize what you have done for us in your support and encouragement and friendship. You have helped us take that next step that felt imposible (just like Brock felt)because you saw that we had it in us we just didnt know it yet.

    Thank you Kevin…for everything.

When I finally internalized the concept in this video, I found that when my life energy was blocked I would find a mountain that was bigger then I was, and in Salt Lake City, Utah, there are several peaks over 9,000 feet and a few over 10,000. Then I hike them and when I feel like I’m going to die…I keep going. My dog, Misty, keep me going by barking at me. For about 20 minutes while pushing through this tough space I’m disintegrating emotionally and usually sobbing. Then…there’s a breakthrough…and suddenly I feel strong again and can go on. When I get back down to the valley after “peaking out”, whatever was blocking my progress is now easy…just easy.

Thanks for the video…this BREAKTHROUGH process is key and this is the best example I’ve seen. I’m grateful to my father, who is now dead, for pushing me through when I didn’t think I could make it. Pappa, I don’t whine about it any more…(my father died a couple of years ago)

WOW, thanks for the comments you guys.

    Talk about humbling.

Every time I see that video, it hits me hard. Reminds me of where I came from, and the people that influenced my life.

It also motivates me to keep doing more.

  7. Thanks Kevin for caring enough to remind us that YOU are that kind of coach. I saw that
movie when it first came out and loved every moment of it. Please continue to do what you are doing.

Powerful stuff, Kevin. As soon as the players on the sidelines started to stand up it literally gave me goosebumps. What an inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

I suggest everyone gets the whole movie “Facing the Giants” and a box of kleenex.
Nothing is impossible! Everything is possible! Face your giants!

Hi Kevin, This really hit me smack in the middle of my survival mechanism. My dad was my coach for little league baseball until he left when I was 11 years old. I’ve never had a man who cared enough for me to work like that with me since. On another level I realize even if someone had cared that much I wouldn’t have let them in because it was supposed to be my Dad. So I’ve been seeking help for years but have been rather uncoachable as I fail and give up time after time waiting for my Father to step up. He’s not going to and that’s alright, I think I finally got it. Oh the power of the Universe to give us just what we need right when we need it.

Thank you for an uncannily timed emotional release that is creating an opening for something different to show up in my life. I will be in touch with you soon.

Thanks for the reminder Kevin! I’ve actually seen this a few months ago and decided to rent the DVD as it is so powerful. I actually cried a few times watching this film. It’s amazing! You sure are a great coach!

  15. Art says:

I would encourage everyone to watch the whole movie.

  16. Kevin Thompson says:

    Hey Todd,

Thanks so much for taking the time to share like that. I’m glad you had the experience that you did.

  17. Becky says:

I’d forgotten what an awesome, inspirational movie this is. Thanks Kevin. This was very timely for me. When it looks/feels impossible, don’t quit; just keep moving. I can do it!

  18. Rick Steel says:

The video’s also a reminder that most people seriously need to train harder and get in shape. Most kids today wouldn’t make it past the first yard because they’re too busy skipping gym to eat candy and attend classes on why winning hurts feelings.

  19. Randy says:

    Kevin,
I believe that your son Brock has wonderful coaches in you and Lisa! Thank you for posting this clip, as I need reminding that I can do MUCH more than I have in the past. I am going to watch the whole movie this week!
    Thank you again sir!

Something happened yesterday that has made me take the opportunity I now have, and have had for the last 6 months, to build a web business, much more seriously. Kevin, I want to thank you for giving me one more chance to do what I need to do to get this up and running. Thank you for believing in me before I believed enough in myself to launch this website. I needed you more than I realized, but God knew and placed you in my life. I know your committment to me and my business, and the businesses of all your clients is real and I thank you for it.
