Here’s Your Permission Slip

When I was a kid, my parents raised me with a good work ethic, to be proud of a good days work.

That being said, it’s not all that surprising that I spent 7 years of my life, working in the most dangerous job in the world, as an Alaska Deadliest Catch Fisherman.

Last week I was talking with a good friend of mine who works on the green chain at a local lumber mill.

And let me tell you, that’s some hard work too.

After 19 years, the job is now taking its toll on him (and his body).

As he was sharing his frustration with me, we began talking about how our parents raised us, and how the lessons they taught us don’t apply these days.

You see…

When we were kids, our parents would tell us that we needed to get good grades in school, so that we could then get into a good college and get a good education.

Then, once we were out of college, we’d be able to get a good job that pays us well.

And…

If we “work hard”, we’ll be able to advance in the job we’ve chosen, and our lives will be fulfilling.

Funny thing is, I still hear parents giving their children this advice today.

I don’t know about you, but from what I’ve seen, this advice hasn’t worked out too well for most of us.

It sure as heck didn’t work out for me.

In fact, it almost cost my life.

I spent 7 years fishing in Alaska, because that’s what I was taught to do.

It was a dangerous job, and though I got tired of working in the wet (and many times freezing) miserable weather, I continued to do it because that’s what I was taught to do.

I grew tired of working 24-36 hours straight, to then sleep for a short 6 hours, so I could get up and repeat this process over and over again, for weeks at a time.

But that’s what I was taught to do.

When I’d come back to Seattle on my time off, I detested the thought of going back on that boat, but I did it anyways, because that’s what I was taught to do.

Fortunately, after almost losing my life in 1995, I decided that enough was ENOUGH.

I finished my contract with the skipper, and got out of the fishing industry.

Though my story may be extreme, countless people find themselves in a VERY similar situation.

For years and years, they’ll “work hard” at a job they don’t even enjoy, wondering where the fulfillment is.

Wondering what happened.

Wondering… “Is this all there is from life”?

And that’s B.S. (pardon my language).

YES there’s MORE for you to have from life, and I’m proof of that.

Today I have a business that pays me for doing what I LOVE.

Where I get up each morning, excited for what the day has to offer.

Where I get to have a hand in helping people like yourself discover your passion, and just as I’ve done, turn it into a business that pays you extremely well for doing what you love.

Consider this your permission slip.

Your permission slip to expect, and get more from life.

Your permission slip to quit “working hard” at a job you don’t like, and start working at what you do enjoy – which by the way, isn’t work at all.

Since discovering this path for myself, I’ve spent the last 4 years of my life showing people like yourself, how to accomplish the same thing.

So…

If you’re reading this right now, and this has resonated with you in some way – then be sure to stay tuned.

I’ve got a BIG announcement coming soon, and it’s one that you won’t want to miss.

Dedicated to your success,

  1. Hi Kevin,
I was raised in a family very similar to yours. I did go to college and did receive a B.A. [B.S.] degree along with a Master’s degree. I worked hard for almost 30 yrs. I continued my education throughout all those years including getting the credential to work with the non-English speaking
children etc.. Then I was injured in my classroom {a broken neck}, a lawsuit pursued and all I asked for was coverage on my injured area. My lawyer stayed with me for almost 10 years fighting for coverage. I lost and walked away with $**,*** and agreed to walk away from with anything to do with the school district. The money went into an account which was to help pay for my medications. One of the medicines cost was $1,000. The money did not buy anything but medicines. I was horrified at what was typed about me in the deposition… The point! You are MUCH better off to be your own boss and dictate your own raises and not have to strike!
My youngest daughter whom is is married and has two children is graduating with her teaching credential here in the state of California. She has been trying to get an application not an INTERVIEW! and they blow her off totally. Kevin, anyone reading your permission slip article
needs to pay attention and learn from you. My daughter may have to move out of state away from the entire family to get a job. She just went to apply for a job at in-and-out hamburger stand where the hours are from day until dusk with the pay starting out at $7.00 an hour? I cannot even believe she would stoop that low when there is a plan “B”..
The conclusion: I worked for 30 yrs. and ended up with no dignity and complete embarrassment!
Please listen to Kevin Thompson he definitely has the answer to your future and the ability to make money from home. I have recently become a student and I am very grateful to Tellman Knudson for
sending me the e-mail with Kevin’s testimony.
    Have a blessed day,
    Bonnie Stevens : )

    Kevin,
Not unlike yourself or the gentleman in the preceding post, I’ve devoted 30 plus years to giving my employer everything I have…because that’s what I was taught to do. I tried always to pass that same example on to others. I’m now very ill but I WILL recover because I was also taught to NEVER give up. If I apply the same work ethic to a legitimate online business then the sky’s the limit.
