If You Build It…

Last Friday night at the Thompson home, it was movie night for Lisa and I.

It’s not often that my wife and I get quiet evenings at home, and you can be sure we cherish them when they come along.

Kaitlynn had gone to a friend’s for the evening, Brock was in bed, and we decided to watch Field Of Dreams, the 1989 hit baseball movie with Kevin Costner.

The most famous line from that movie was, “If you build it, he will come”.

But…

There’s another line from the movie, and though it didn’t go down in the history books, it made one heck of an impression on me.

It’s the opening line in the video above.

As I sat watching the movie, I realized how closely it resembled my own life.

I can remember years ago, and how most people reacted when I told them of my plans to start a business of my own.

I had a vision of what I wanted to accomplish, how I wanted to interact with others, and what I wanted my life to be like, yet at times, I felt like I was the only one who could see the vision.

Many ridiculed me, calling me crazy for having such grandiose dreams.

In spite of this, I kept pushing forward, moving toward them.

As we fast forward to now, every one of them have become a reality, and today I’m reaching for even bigger dreams.

Maybe you’ve been ridiculed too.

Maybe people have called you crazy.

Maybe you’ve felt alone at times.

Well…

I’m here to tell you – you’re NOT alone, because I’m in the same boat with you.

And there’s one thing I can tell you.

The secret that got me to where I am, has been surrounding myself with like-minded people who shared my enthusiasm and passion.

Who didn’t think I was crazy.

Who could help me achieve my dreams.

In fact, that’s the biggest reason I do what I do, and why I love it so much.

Because I now have the opportunity to help you, just as so many others have helped me along the way.

I don’t know about you, but me thinks that’s a great thing to aspire to.

Dedicated to your success,
Kevin Thompson

One Response to “If You Build It…”

  1. Hey Kevin……never seen the film or know what its about (except for the trailer) Its true what you have said and what is said on the film. I like the phrase of “Do you dare to dream it? Do you dare to plan it? Do you dare to live it? If you email me I will tell you said that!

Most people can do the first one, kinda fall over the second one and never do the 3rd one. I call it my 3 steps to heaven. The problem is we all like instant success and when it doesn’t happen……….the dream is over. One of my favorite songs is “Don’t dream it’s over” by Crowed House…..so much I want it played at my passing by (forward planning) its got great sentiment and I play it when things are not going well and it lifts me up go to youtube and check it out you will love it
