Mama’s little girl has moved out on her won so to speak, and while it’s certainly been an emotional experience, it’s also been REALLY exciting.
All our lives we’ve heard that the way to success is to do good in school, so you can get into a good college, get a good education, and get a good job, working for a good company and make lots of moolah.
But when you look at the general population, what percentage of people who followed this advice are now living the life they always dreamed of?
Truth is, I don’t know the answer, but my guess is that it’s a pretty small number.
What if… instead… there was a college that not only gave you a great education, but also supported you 100% in finding and following your life’s passion.
Wouldn’t that be something?!
When I discovered that was the mission of Pacific Lutheran University. I was sold.
Heck, I’ve been committed to teaching people this for years.
I’ve done my best (and succeeded) in instilling this thought process in Kaitlynn.
And now, PLU is going to continue that process,
It was really interesting moving Kait into her college dorm last week.
Unlike a lot of colleges, PLU is an extremely intimate and friendly place that is committed to every one of it’s students.
One of the school traditions is that the 150+ member football team is on hand to help students get moved into their dorms.
As you can see in the photos, last Thursday was a busy day, as hundreds of students (including Kaitlynn) moved into the college dorms.
But…
With the help of all the football players, every student was moved in… in less than 4 hours.
Now that’s impressive.
Talk about pulling together for the benefit of everyone.
Later that afternoon, we attended the president’s address and were completely blown away at how he communicated with the students, and set the stage for the school year.
Needless to say, Lisa and I felt great about the fact that our daughter is in good hands.
So…
Like I said.
It’s been an emotional week, what with our daughter leaving home.
But it’s also been exciting to watch as she moves into this next stage of her life.
I can only imagine what kind of impact she’s going to have on this world as she continues in the direction she’s going.
It’s gonna be HUGE.
Because what they say is absolutely true.
When you follow your passions, you’ll never work a day in your life.
Instead, you’ll have a business that compensates you more than you ever imagined, for doing something that you absolutely love, with people that you absolutely love.

Yesterday we sparked quite a discussion on the subject of wealth distribution, and I want to publicly applaud those of you who took the time to post your comments and make your voice heard.
You truly are to be commended, and you’ll understand why in just a moment.
George was wondering why I would post a question like that on my blog.
Was it to drive traffic to the website?
Was it to create controversy?
What was my underlying purpose… my hidden agenda if you will?
Why would I bring up the subject of wealth distribution, and ask for your opinion?
While all of the reasons George brought up are partially correct, my real underlying purpose was something entirely different.
Before I reveal that underlying purpose, I will be completely candid, and let you know that I’m constantly trying to induce thinking, create controversy, drive traffic to the blog, and do everything within my power to get you to interact with me.
The fact is, the more I’m able to get you to interact with me, the bigger impact I can make on your life.
It’s those who take a proactive stance that get the results, and this applies to ALL areas of your life.
Wall flowers, and those who sit on the sidelines will get some benefit, but they certainly won’t benefit nearly as much as those who get actively involved.
Alright, with that said, it’s time to reveal my underlying purpose (hidden agenda) for yesterday’s conversation.
As you know, the biggest thing that separates me from all the other “how to make moolah gurus”, is that I’m EXTREMELY passionate about what I do.
I’ve been that way for years now, and it’s why I’m so successful.
This whole idea of being passionate about what you do is SOOOO important, that it’s the backbone of everything I teach.
And thus, the reason for yesterdays email and blog post.
My goal was to give you something to think, and hopefully talk about. Something that you would have an opinion on, and could passionately discuss.
And let me tell you, we certainly accomplished that, and the evidence is on the blog.
That’s why I commended those of you who took the time to respond.
There’s no doubt that those of you who responded are passionate about the topic of wealth distribution, and when you apply this same level of passion to the source of your income, you can’t help but be extremely profitable.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.
People are attracted to this passion, and they naturally want to be a part of what you have to offer.
So there you have it, my hidden agenda exposed.

A California college student is conducting a social experiment where he’s trying to get his peers to sign a petition in favor of distributing grade point averages to show how the federal government distributes wealth.
Oliver Darcy, a recent college graduate, proposes that students with good grades contribute their GPA to their academically sluggish friends.
He argues that this is how the federal government takes wealth from the country’s high wage earners and distributes it to the low income earners.

Though no one really likes to talk about it, violence is a fact of life, and it’s getting worse.
Sooner or later, we’re all going to be a victim.
It’s not a matter of “if”… but “when” it will happen.
And in these changing times, more and more people are resorting to violence.

Just a few months ago, my own family was victimized when someone broke into Lisa’s vehicle while we were at our high school’s basketball game.

After visiting New York City for the first time last month with Lisa and Kaitlynn, here I am again, back in the big apple. Back in Times Square.
Only this time, I’m here on business, and my family isn’t with me.
It’s quite a change from what I’m used to, that’s for sure.
And though I’d never want to live here, I thoroughly enjoy visiting.
As you can see in the photo that I snapped above, the street outside my hotel is busy, busy, busy.
And like I said, the scene here is far different than what I’m used to seeing in the small little town of Arlington, Washington.
One could safely say that Kevin is out of his comfort zone.
But… by getting out of my comfort zone, and doing things like this, things that I wouldn’t normally do… over time, it’s become normal.
For example, as I shared with you the other day, I used to be an incredibly shy person.
But at some point in my life, I discovered that the behavior of being shy wasn’t serving me well, so in an instant, I changed my behavior so that it WOULD serve me well.
I also used to smoke cigarettes.
For 25 years I smoked those things.
But after Brock and Elliana were born, I decided that I didn’t want them growing up, knowing their father as a smoker.
So I quit.
Yes…
Just like that, after 25 years, I quit smoking.
That was on December 28, 2009 and I haven’t touched a cigarette since.
Back in 1999, I got sick and tired of the fact that my carpet cleaning business had taken control of my life, and everything important to me had taken a back seat to that damn business… so I decided to do something different.
And just like that, in an instant, I made a change, and a decision that altered the course of my life forever.
As I look back on each one of these experiences, the one common denominator in all of them is this…
I simply changed my thinking, and as a result, everything in my exterior world changed, in order to be in alignment with my new thinking.
Many of you replied to me the other day, to let me know you’d be interested in having me share about how I make friends so easily, and how that translates into income for my business.
The good news is, I’m already putting an event together for you.
And as I do, you can bet that it’s going to be about FAR more than simply coming out of your shell and making a few friends.

Our daughter Kaitlynn is getting ready to head off to college in less than two weeks, and even though she’ll only be about an hour away from us, it’s still an emotional time.
Especially for Lisa.
Mama’s little girl is leaving home.
The other day, the two of them were out and about, doing some clothes shopping for Kaitlynn.
I can’t remember the store they were in (might have been Marshall’s), but that’s not important.
I was tagging along with them, and of course Brock and Elliana were with us too.
In the back of the store, there’s a small kids section with a handful of toys.
As you can imagine, Brock found this section of the store, and as far as he was concerned, it was where he planned to spend his time.
I’m not that much of a shopper. Truth is, I’m more of a go in, grab what I need, and get out kinda guy.
But I definitely like spending time with Brock, so he and I were hanging out in the toy section.
As it turns out, there was also a bookrack in the toy section, and it had a nice selection of books.
Brock LOVES books, and as soon as he saw the bookrack, he was all over it.
He immediately found a book that grabbed his attention, and not two seconds later, he’s found a comfy place to sit and read it.
This was obviously the “book reading” location, as you can see in the photo.
What amazed me most though, was the fact that there were already two other kids sitting there.
I’m guessing they were brother and sister.
As Brock saw them reading books too, he decided to pull up a seat… right between this other little boy and girl.
Talk about making an effort to fit in.
As I watched this, I thought to myself, “Brock isn’t going to have any problem at all making friends when he gets into school”.
When I was a kid, I was really, REALLY shy, and as a result, it wasn’t easy to make friends.
I got over my shyness at some point, and was amazed at how easily I made friends, as soon a I got out of my little shell.
Today, making friends is a HUGE part of what I do in my life, and in my business.
In fact…
It might sound hard to believe, but making friends has been an integral part of my success.
It’s highly possible, that you met me, because one of my friends introduced you and I in the first place.
Until watching my son the other day, I’d never given this too much thought, because it comes so natural to me, just as it did to him.
Maybe it would be worthwhile for me to host a special event, and talk about how I do this.

This last weekend, I took the opportunity to spoil my wife Lisa.
For the first time since Elliana was born in March of last year, the two of us got away for an entire weekend, while Grandma and Grandpa watched the little ones for us.
I took Lisa to this incredible beach house on Whidbey Island… not to far from the naval station, and for 3 days, we did nothing but relax and enjoy each others company.
On both Friday and Saturday evenings, we got to witness picture perfect sunsets, as the tide was all the way in, and the waves hit the beach a mere 5 feet from the deck we sat on.
While on the island, we went browsing around the town of Oak Harbor on Saturday afternoon, and while we were in one of the shops, I found this sign that says it all.
I had to take a picture so I could share it with you here.
If you’ve been with me for any period of time at all, you know this is what I’ve been preaching for years.
I gotta say… this little sign, posted on a gift shop wall, pretty much made me feel vindicated for all my effort.
After seeing it, I couldn’t help but think that there’s gotta be more people who have figured this out too.

On July 5th, I told you about my friend Dean Graziosi, and how I was privy to the fact that he’s getting ready to make a MAJOR announcement.

Last week I told you about Lisa having to go in for surgery, and I was inundated with well-wishes and prayers sent via email.
That being the case, I felt it only right to give you an update.
After having severe stomach pain that wouldn’t go away, I took Lisa to the emergency room, and the doctor discovered two things.
1. She had a large number of cysts on her ovary.
2. She had considerable blockage in her colon.
So…
Last Thursday morning, I took her to the hospital to undergo surgery.
There was no way I could NOT be there for my wife, hence the letter to you, letting you know what was going on, and telling you that I’d have to rearrange my schedule for the later part of last week.
Thursday was a long day, but Lisa came out of surgery about 6:30 that evening.
Needless to say, she was a considerable amount of pain for the next several days, and it meant the world to me, knowing that I could be there for her.
Sleeping in the chair next to her hospital bed certainly wasn’t the most comfortable place to stay the night.
My bed at home would have been much better, but I just couldn’t bring myself to leave the hospital that long.
Lisa came back home on Monday, and will be recovering for the next week or so.
Our daughter Katilynn has been a HUGE help with the kids, as were Grandma and Grandpa.
Brock and Elliana stayed with them while we were in the hospital.
